The Orca Dive Club Mauritius is located in the Hibiscus Resort in Pereybère Bay, near to the Cave of Malheureux. This is one of the top dive spots on the north coast, close to the offshore islands.
The Orca Dive Club Mauritius is open all year round. Every day from 8am until 6pm, you will therefore always find a friendly face to answer all your questions. The extended opening hours also allow you the flexibility to get the most out of your diving holiday as check-in/out can be arranged to suit you. For our early birds, we offer early morning dives. We also offer night dives. It gets dark in Mauritius between 6pm and 7pm, depending on the season.
The Orca Dive Club Mauritius has a particularly spacious and comfortable boat compared to local standards. Our hard RIB has plenty of room for 16 divers, tank holders, bench seating, sun canopy and a small dive platform with a ladder. There is oxygen on board and a first aid kit. The boat leaves twice a day, 9am in the morning and then 1.30pm in the early afternoon. On request it's possible to make two tank dives. It takes between 10 and 45 minutes to reach the dive spots. An even larger boat is planned for full day trips.
Here, we never run out of fine Mauritian air. You can choose from our range of 80 steel tanks in 8, 10, 12 and 15 litre sizes. True to the Orca philosophy of "safety first" all cylinders are tested in accordance with international cylinder testing guidelines. Regular valve servicing and visual inspections are just a few of the rigorous in house test procedures that equipment must go through. All tanks can be used as DIN/INT connections.
We use a Bauer Compressor KAP 500 for filling our tanks. Our compressor is serviced here in Mauritius by Bauer technicians. In Summer 2008 we will be adding a nitrox membrane system.
Once you've rinsed your equipment, there is plenty of space to dry it on our hanging rails. In the day time, equipment can dry outside in the shade, and at night, the rails are moved inside for security. Our wet area is separated into two parts, one for cameras, computers and regulators, the other for everything else.
We have onsite first aid facilities for small and big complaints. Medicines, bandages etc. can also be found nearby in the local pharmacy. The pharmacies in Mauritius have plenty of choice at much cheaper prices than in Europe. For emergencies there is a hospital in Grande Baie (5km), and nearby there are a couple of English speaking doctors. The Deco Chamber is located in Vacoas, which is approx. one hour away from the dive centre.
